Butyl Cellosolve is an organic compound that has sweet ether-like odor and finds application as solvent for paints & surface coatings. It is also used as stabilizer, antimicrobial agent, & defoamer in food products. This compound has molecular formula C6H14O2 with molar mass of 118.18 g/mol and boiling point of about 171 degrees Celsius. It is considered as quickly evaporating glycol ether with balanced hydrophilic & hydrophobic properties. Butyl Cellosolve also serves as solvent for agricultural pesticides, silk screen printing inks, and disinfectants. For dyes & resins, it is used as coupling agent and as coalescent for water-based industrial coatings.
